What are the reinforcement methods for retaining wall steel formwork

2025-08-19 Visits:16

Retaining wall steel formwork can be reinforced in various ways to ensure stability and reliability during pouring.
Internal support reinforcement: A support structure, such as steel pipe internal support, is installed inside the steel formwork. Based on the retaining wall’s dimensions and design requirements, the steel pipes are strategically arranged, with their ends pressed against the inner wall of the formwork to prevent inward deformation due to lateral pressure from the concrete and ensure accurate wall thickness.
External tension reinforcement: The steel formwork on both sides is connected and tightened using tension bolts. The bolts pass through pre-reserved holes in the formwork and are tightened with nuts at both ends to ensure a tight fit. Accessories such as cam clamps are also used to enhance the stability of the connection and resist lateral pressure from the concrete.
Support system reinforcement: An external support system is constructed using scaffolding steel pipes to connect the steel formwork to the support system. The support system’s vertical and horizontal bars are strategically arranged to form a stable structure, transferring pressure from the formwork to the ground and enhancing overall stability.
Back rib reinforcement: Back ribs, typically made of channel steel or I-beams, are installed behind the steel formwork. The back rib is reliably connected to the formwork, which disperses the pressure and enhances the rigidity of the formwork, so that the formwork can better withstand the impact force and lateral pressure of the concrete.
